Interesting information on Fruit Flies and Autism…

This blog highlights some information that I was told about today from a friend who actually does research on fruit flies.  I thought it was interesting and got online as soon as I could.  Sure enough, the fruit flies are being studied in the US at a university and the studies are inconjunction with finding a gene [...]

Toys: Get the Most for Your Money…

Most of you have learned that when it comes to kids, preferred toys can come and go like an episode of Blues Clues.  Many of you have bought toys for your kids at Christmas or for a birthday, only to discover that they like the wrapping paper better.
About 2 years ago (at Christmas), we bought [...]

My Diet Plan

I want to lose 5 lbs.  Not too much, not too little–just 5 lbs.  Enough to get me in a smaller size, but not so much I have to eat grass.
The problem?  Snacks!!!  I have way too many snacks going on in this household.  We have:

whales (generic goldfish)
fritos
pretzles
granola bars
fruit juice snacks
candy
cookies
yogurt covered raisins
tortilla chips

I cannot [...]

Having a Plan…

I remember one day, a long time ago when Doc and I were in college.  I had just told him that I was changing my minor yet again…from physics to history.  He looked at me and said, “What are you going to do with a Math Major and a History Minor?”  My response:  “I don’t [...]

Egyptian Teacher Goes Insane!!

To all you students that I have ever taught…
Your experiences with me could have been so much worse.  If you ever think your teachers are being unfair, or hard on you, just remember that education in this country is a huge privelege that not everyone in the world gets.  You could be this kid.  Seriously though, [...]

My 4 Year Old’s Chores:

I have come to the decision that it is time for Big Brother to take on more of our daily chores.  For two days he has been doing these chores each day.  I mentioned the idea of a weekly allowance for doing his chores, and although he liked the idea, he quickly forgot about it.  [...]

4-Year-Old Mile-Marker: The Game of Life

We Played this Last night!!  This was Big Brother’s first real attempt at playing a board game (other than his kiddy ones).  Everything went great!!!  He actually was engrossed for almost 1.5 hours!  I was amazed!  I became the millionaire, but all he could say at the end was “I am the WINNER!”  Oh, and [...]

Interesting Article…

I am not sure who I am voting for this election, but I thought this was a really interesting article.  I don’t want to incite riot or anything…just get opinions on the matter, and maybe even the “other side” to this argument.

Cheers!

Homemade soy yogurt…well, sort-of…

I made homemade soy yogurt last night with a recipe from the Hillbilly Housewife (thanks to Just another stay at home mom).  I have to say I used more yogurt (the whole cup, instead of half a cup)…oh, and I added vanilla flavoring since I was trying to use the unsweetened and disgusting soy milk [...]

Yuck! Surgery!!!

I went for another followup appointment with the ENT on my sinus blockages.  He has decided that he would like to do surgery…unblock my sinuses by breaking the bone and enlarging the holes (sounds wonderful, huh?!)  Actually the bone he will break is about as thick as an egg shell (now it doesn’t sound as [...]

I found this article interesting today.  How many of these apply to you?  Will you live a long time?  I do 9 of the 13 things…and I am working on one more.  I started walking last week at our mall 2-3 times each week.  The plan had been to go once we dropped Big Brother off [...]
