We made our garden today! Big Brother helped me dig the little holes and insert the seeds. It is finally getting warm enough that I think they will live. We planted okra, green beans, radishes and squash. I need to buy a tomato plant to add to it. This is my first attempt at a garden. I probably planted way too much stuff in here, but I guess we will find out. I also bought some chives, cilantro, basil and parsley to put into my pots on the front porch. I have not gotten them done yet. Maybe I will do that next weekend or tomorrow while Big Brother is at school and Baby Boy is home with me (yet again) with a fever. I have to take him to the doctor tomorrow morning. I am hoping that the doctor doesn’t refer him to an ENT doctor. We shall see…
Anyway, the weather is beautiful here today. Not too windy and not too hot. Probably in the 80’s. It still gets cool in the evening. Oh, I got bins today so that I can recycle. I am putting cardboard, plastic milk containers and newspaper in one bin and coke cans in another bin. (Ha–that should tell you how much Coke Zero we drink in this house!) I am constantly looking for sales on the stuff. I am also considering talking Doc into getting a tubular skylight put into our kitchen as well as a new lighting fixture over the sink. I think the skylight would brighten the inside of the house and the lighting fixture would look better. In doing so, we will get rid of the monstrocity of a flourescent light that I have in the middle of our kitchen. I know, you are thinking, wait–Ms. Recycle wants to get rid of flourescent–aren’t those supposed to be the way to go? Well, I might keep it if it was elsewhere, but really they had no clue when they put it up where they did. It is hideous and not even centered in my kitchen. Well, I am trying to upload a picture of the lighting in my kitchen, but it seems that my computer doesn’t want to read my SD card. (lovely–sigh…) Anyway, enjoy the picts of Big Brother and his garden.

I have to warn you about the squash, because we learned this the hard way last year. A single, full grown squash plant is about 3 feet across and 2 feet tall. It will take up your entire garden! But it does put off alot of squash…
