Well, I have been weighing the idea of teaching Big Brother 3 days each week and letting him go to parent’s day out 2 days each week with his younger brother rather than having him at a Private PreSchool 5 days per week. It would save our family about $300 each month that we could use toward going and seeing new things and entertaining our family (all part of preschool learning, right?). We could go to the museums and the science spectrum and the animal farm (not the book, mind you
) We could go on trips to see places and explore things that we won’t be able to do as a family if we pay $420 a month for Preschool. I am finding a lot of resource info that will help me follow lesson plans that will enable me to prepare him for Kindergarten. I am a teacher (even if it is a high school math teacher), so I am used to following lesson plans (and even writing a few myself actually). I am leaning toward doing this as it would also provide me with one last year home with him before he begins school a year from now. I would be home with him and his brother 5 of 7 days out of the week and we would go to playgroups on 2 of those 5 days. The two days that we are not home together would be spent (for them) at Parent’s Day Out (thus providing them with socialization with other kids their age). I think my bases are covered. I want to do this and can arrange it in our schedule. I think both boys would flourish as I am seeing after looking over lessons that many of the things I would do with Big Brother would allow Baby Boy to participate to. In a way, Baby Boy will be attending Preschool as well. I think this is a wonderful plan–what do you think??

Never underestimate the importance of having enough money to “live” your lives. That’s why we are moving…well that and to pay down some debt.

Hey Jennifer, I somehow didn’t realize you had a blog or whatever you call it before. neat….it’s new to me. I’m a lot of a technophobe. Anyway I think the part time at home preschool sounds wonderful. I just need to send mine to part time pre-school one of these days.

J! I am so glad to read that you have decided to do preschool at home. I was so worried about N going to Christ the King. It has been so expensive and we have been so disappointed this year. I have heard that some of the churches have some wonderful pdo’s and i think it is an excellent idea. And Mr. J offering to let you be part time is…..wow! Dont you feel justified in what you do since he has so much confidence in you. Gosh, I could go on and on. Congrats!
BTW…the boys are precious and I would love to get together sometime.
